My First Burn
After opening the box and setting up the Camp Chef stove, I started my first fire in the stove. Camp Chef says to run a fire for 1 to 2 hours in order to cure the paint.
It wasn’t hard to get the fire going, but it did take some time to get the stove pipe setup and secured with screws. The screws are optional, but for me here in Colorado, it’s best to secure the pipe because a thunderstorm will hit you at some point.
My First Setup in a Tent
After setting the stove up for the first time, I headed into the Rocky Mountains to test it out in my new Kodiak Canvas 12×12 Cabin Lodge Tent. It was much easier setting up the stove the second time around.
This time I left the pipe connected in two sections so I didn’t have to screw it all together again.
You can also see that I added a Rain Cap Spark Arrestor and used Guy Lines to secure it even better.
Camp Cooking
After getting everything setup and the fire was burning hot, I got out my Cast Iron Skillet and started cooking my Papa Murphy’s Cowboy pizza.
It was so nice being able to cook a pizza on the top of the oven and it tasted really good.
Final Thoughts
It’s worth spending a little more money on Camp Chef Alpine Stove and being able to stay warm and eat great food inside my Kodiak Canvas 10×10 Cabin Tent. It makes my outdoor adventures so much more fun.
