What is the Best Way to Stake a Tent Down? Tent Stake or Tent Screw?
1st Test – Regular Drill
I finished my first tent staking test and honestly, the traditional tent staking method won, but only because I didn’t have the right drill.
I was talking to some people after setting the tent up and told them of the difficulties I had with drilling the tent screws in the ground, and they told me I needed a Hammer Drill.
2nd Test – Hammer Drill
The second test is coming up in late September 2023, after I buy the Hammer Drill.
3rd Test – Hammer Drill
The third test is upcoming in late October 2023 on our trout fishing trip to the Miramonte Reservoir in Colorado.
Final Thoughts
It’s interesting that it always seems to come down to having the right equipment or tools. I’m having to buy a hammer drill now for the second and third test.
If you’re tight on money, I suggest sticking with the regular tent staking method of hammering the stakes in the ground.
I will reserve my final opinion until after I test the tent screw method when using a Hammer Drill.
