Here’s our 11 Mile Reservoir Colorado Fishing Review. It’s a beautiful lake with a lot of large fish in it.
Eleven Mile Reservoir Location
The Eleven Mile Reservoir is approximately 1.5 hours west of Colorado Springs, near Lake George, Colorado.
This lake sits downstream of Spinney Reservoir and the Dream Stream that connects the two. It’s a gorgeous area to fish in and we saw many people catching rainbow trout from 16 inches up to 22 inches.
Things to Do at 11 Mile Reservoir
Camping and Fishing are the primary activities at Eleven Mile Reservoir. There are four primary places to fish:
- Eleven Mile Reservoir
- Dream Stream
- Spinney Reservoir
- Eleven Mile Canyon
Conditions at the Lake
There is one paved road that lead into the reservoir from Lake George. The paved road continues to the west up near Spinney Reservoir, but all the other roads are gravel. These roads are okay to drive on but watch out for potholes on the paved roads and wash boarding on the gravel road that may cause you to slow down and drive with more caution.
There is a large campground on the northeast side of the lake near the marina and a small store. I believe Rick owns the store and is one of the most knowledgeable people I have met in the area who knows the lake extremely well. It’s worth stopping in to talk with him and his son.
There is some really nice hiking at the Coyote Ridge Nature Trails, plus you can reserve some remote camp sites there. The hiking is fairly flat and along the shoreline, over some incredible rocks. It’s a great hike for people that are not use to the altitude on Colorado.
There are some great remote camp sites on the south and southeast side of the lake, plus many people talk about how good the fishing is over in that area. You’ll have to take a boat across the lake or take some time to drive around it.
When is the Best Time to Fish
The best thing is to talk to people that work at the store or marina or locals that fish Eleven Mile a lot, but here’s what we learned.
- Rainbow Trout – Fish early morning and late afternoon into the evening (7 pm to 11 pm). Most people were using Power Bait, salmon egg flavor.
- Pike – Fish from around 11 am into the late afternoon. They like the warmer and shallow water.

Final Thoughts
Mike and I are new to fishing this area so do your research and talk to the locals before you head out to the reservoir.
